About The Unit:

The Student Life & Engagement Unit (SLE) leads programs and initiatives that create meaningful learning experiences for students beyond the classroom.


 

About The Role:

The role is expected to serve as an advocate for students, be highly energetic, vibrant, and creative due to the high levels of interaction with students. Assess students’ needs and support services, developing innovative student-centred co-curricular programs, activities, and events that enhances their educational experience. The Senior Coordinator–Student Engagement is a full-time role in the Student Life & Engagement team. The role reports to the  Senior Assistant Director, Student Life & Engagement (SLE)


 

Role Responsibilities: 

Including but not limited to the following.

  • Lead student engagement efforts by overseeing student clubs, organizations, student leaders, and programs that support student growth, involvement, and the overall student experience.
  • Coordinate major student-facing events and initiatives, including orientation, town halls, club fairs, personal development workshops, graduation support, and other campus-wide activities.
  • Develop initiatives that strengthen university culture, student belonging, leadership, and community,
  • Develop engagement opportunities for graduate students.
  • Plan, deliver and support leadership development programs and training for student leaders, including student government executives, club leaders, and resident assistants.
  • Work closely with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to create meaningful and impactful student experiences.
  • Track and evaluate student programs to measure participation, outcomes, and impact, and use insights to improve future initiatives.
  • Support the promotion and communication of student programs, opportunities, and initiatives across campus.
  • Support additional initiatives and responsibilities as assigned by the Student Life & Engagement team.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree with three to five years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment. Highly motivated and with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the university environment.
  • Alignment with Ashesi’s commitment to ethical conduct including empathy.
  • Creative thinker and engaging leader interested in assisting young adults to pursue impactful causes.
  • Ability to maintain fiscal discipline and adapt sustainable measures in the execution of all events and activities will be an asset.
  • Skills in graphic design, photography & video editing are assets.
