About the employer

Marianne-bleueThe Laboratory of Excellence in Medical Genomics, GENMED is coordinated by Dr. Jean-François Deleuze, Scientific Director of the Fondation Jean Dausset-CEPH and Director of the Centre National de Génotypage (CNG-IG-CEA). François Cambien, INSERM Emeritus Director of Research, is co-cordinator.

GENMED relies on the collaboration between three partners :

  • The Fondation Jean Dausset-CEPH
  • The UMR_S-1166 INSERM/Université Pierre et Marie Curie, team: Genomics and Pathophysiology of Cardiovascular Diseases
  • The Centre National de Génotypage-IG-CEA.

GENMED is organized around four main axes :

  • The use of new high throughput genomic-based approaches that rely primarily on next-generation sequencing (NGS), including exome sequencing (WES), whole genome sequencing (WGS), expression analysis of the genome and analysis of epigenetic DNA modifications.
  • The use of patient sample collections and population cohorts that meet specific criteria (sample size and quality of phenotype) to ensure the success of these approaches.
  • The development and application of high throughput functional genomics, for example, to explore the functional consequences of genetic and epigenetic variations identified by genome-wide approaches.
  • The development, evaluation and implementation of new methods for data pre-processing and quality control as well as for their integration through different levels of "omics" (e.g. genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic,...) information by use of dedicated bioinformatics and statistical methodologies.

The overall objectives of GENMED are :

  • Collaborate in projects with a strong potential in medical genomics,
  • Increase the attractiveness of the genomic data,
  • Encourage interaction and communication between collaborators,
  • Develop synergies between research groups to enrich GENMED.
