We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Cellular Informatics Team in Pipeline Solutions at the Sanger Institute on a Permanent basis.
About the Role:
You will have technical responsibility for data engineering tasks within the Cellular Informatics Team, Pipeline Solutions. You will be required to support laboratory processes across Cellular Operations in the generation and management of data (including tracking, sequencing, imaging and other forms of laboratory derived data), in collaboration with Cellular Operations data scientists.
The role includes being an expert data engineering source of best practice within the IDS Cellular Informatics team.
A primary objective of this role is to support and enhance the use of Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) used by laboratories for screening and cellular generation. This includes the design of templates, development of automations, and creation of reporting tools within these systems. Additionally, support data scientists in Cellular Operations and build collaborative relationships with scientists across the Institute working on Benchling systems.
About You:
You will be embarking on a career in data engineering in a scientific research institute. You may be a recent graduate or already have some experience of the field. You will be inspired by the opportunity to work openly and collaboratively with members of the IDS teams and our operational partners across the Institute.

About Us:
The Cellular Informatics team is part of our core Informatics and Digital Solutions (IDS) department. We work very closely with our wet-lab and bioinformatics colleagues both in Scientific Operation and across our faculty teams as the need arises. The team is organised into three areas of specialty with a scrum team of developers and bioinformaticians, project support team of developers and the data science and engineering team.
