About the FSTM

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.
Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.
Within the FSTM, the Department of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (DHML) coordinates all teaching programmes in life in sciences, medicine, nursing, radiology and midwifery. The department's research combines basic and translational, molecular and computational approaches, with a particular focus on cancer biology, while also encompassing clinical research in human health and disease.
The DHML cooperates with the national health care centers and leading international biomedical research institutions. As medicine and health are strategic priorities for the University of Luxembourg, the department is actively expanding its education and research activities in these fields, providing exceptional opportunities for medical and biomedical initiatives.
Your role
The position focuses on innovative, interdisciplinary teaching in public health at the bachelor's level and within health-related specialization programmes. The recruited professor will establish teaching and expertise in areas such as epidemiology, health systems, disease prevention, and health policy.
The successful candidate will lead the development and coordination of public health teaching activities across the University's programmes in medicine, nursing sciences, and midwifery. The role includes the implementation of a state-of-the-art public health curriculum, incorporating advanced educational tools such as digital learning platforms, data-driven health simulations, case-based learning, and interactive policy analysis. Working closely with faculty members and clinical partners, the successful candidate will ensure an integrated and cohesive learning experience for students.
Research Portfolio
The candidate is expected to have an internationally recognised research profile and to bring a coherent research programme in public health. The candidate will develop and lead an ambitious research agenda in areas such as population health, primary care, prevention, health systems, epidemiology, health inequalities, data‑driven health sciences, and digital health.
Policy and Practice Integration
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health research and/or practice, with a commitment to integrating real-world perspectives into education. This will enhance the practical application of public health principles in healthcare and policy contexts. The possibility of maintaining collaborative activities with national health authorities or international organizations may be considered, depending on the candidate's profile and institutional partnerships.

Your profile
- MD/PhD or PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Systems, or a closely related An MD is considered an asset
- Extensive experience in public health research and/or practice, ideally with a strong track record in population health, primary care, health policy, or health systems analysis
- Substantial teaching experience in public health, epidemiology, or health sciences at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, preferably within medical, nursing, or life sciences programs
- Proven commitment to interdisciplinary and innovative teaching, particularly in integrating public health with medicine, life sciences, and nursing
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement new educational courses, including modules on health systems, epidemiology, and preventive strategies
- Familiarity with modern teaching methods and tools, such as online learning platforms, simulation-based training, data-driven case studies, and interactive policy analysis
Language requirements
The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual and multicultural context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English, and either French or German. However, an excellent command of French s regarded as a stronger asset for this position, although an excellent command of German also constitutes an advantage.
