Your Responsibilities
- Working on the FWF research project “OGT-MET drives lipid and epigenetic reprogramming in drug-naïve, -tolerant and -resistant cancer” (https://pharmazie.uni-graz.at/en/research/pharmacognosy/research/epigenetic-control-of-lipid-metabolism-in-adaptive-drug-resistance/). This project investigates the influence of O-linked N-acetylglucosamine transferase (OGT) on the plasticity of tumor cells that are resistant to targeted/molecular therapies used in the clinic. The focus is on analyzing OGT-mediated changes in lipid metabolism and epigenetics. Studies of molecular mechanisms, complemented by multi-omics data, aim to provide a detailed picture in order to better understand drug resistance in tumor cells and identify new therapeutic concepts.
- The first position will focus on cell biology, molecular biology, including cell treatment, genetic manipulation, and epigenetic methods. The second position will focus on the generation and analysis of multi-omics/lipidomics datasets, including sample preparation, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Interdisciplinary research using bioanalytical, cell biological, epigenetic, and molecular pharmacological methods
- Writing scientific publications
- Preparation of a project-related thesis in the field of pharmacognosy
- Guidance and supervision of students in research activities
- Assistance with organizational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures
- Contribution to the preparation of applications for new research projects
- Active participation in conferences, workshops, and continuing education/training events
- Contribution to science communication activities within the scope of the project
Your Profile
Position 1
- Knowledge of analytics, cell biology, signal transduction, epigenetics, and molecular biology
- Practical experience with standard biochemical and cell biology techniques (cell culture, Western blot, immunofluorescence, qPCR, FACS). Experience with epigenetic techniques such as ChIP, CUT&RUN, etc. is an advantage.
Position 2
- Knowledge of bioanalytics, biomedicine, metabolism, cell biology, and signal transduction
- Practical experience in mass spectrometry–based metabolomics, especially lipid analysis (lipidomics), including sample preparation and liquid chromatography coupling; experience in multi-omics data analysis is an advantage.
Both positions
- Completed diploma or master’s degree in pharmacy, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields
- Very good English skills, written and spoken
- Very good IT skills (MS Office, data visualization, statistics software)
- High motivation, team and communication skills, ability to work independently
Application Documents
The following documents are required for a complete application:
- Letter of motivation and academic CV
- Complete proof of completion of the degree program required in the call for applications
- Proof of the language skills, required in the curriculum, if the doctoral program is not completed in the first language.
