About AgroBioSciences (AgBS):

The AgroBioSciences (AgBS) program is a component of the Science & Technology pole of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). It constitutes a structure of higher education and practical-based research with a vision of solving real African agriculture challenges by leveraging up-to-date science and technology.

The AgroBiosciences Program Research Center leverages up-to-date technologies to address African agriculture challenges. It is a multidisciplinary research center that aims to conduct relevant, cutting-edge research that positively impacts African agriculture. It is based on the collaboration and synergy of several research programs targeting diverse disciplines of research in agriculture, such as 

Microbiome, Omics, Plant Physiology and Crop Improvement, Plant Pathology, By-products Valorization, Soil Sciences, Agronomy, and Sustainable Farming…

Job description: 

We are seeking a dedicated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the AgroBioSciences Program within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will assist with research projects focused on biomass conversion and valorization for sustainable agronomic applications. 

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the following tasks: 

  • Extraction and characterization of biopolymers and bioactive molecules from underused biomass 
  • Develop new formulations and perform advanced physico-chemical characterizations and planta trials 
  • Perform literature reviews to support ongoing and future research projects and ensure rigorous documentation and quality of data collected 
  • Propose innovative solutions aligned with sustainability and bioeconomy goals. 
  • Conduct benchmarking of existing materials or processes related to the targeted research subject. 
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental data and ensure data integrity and support the scale-up of processes from lab to (semi)pilot scale. 
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, publications, patent disclosures and cosupervision of students. 
  • Work in collaboration with industrial partners, academic researchers, and internal R&D teams. 

Criteria of the candidate : 

  • Doctoral degree in the fields of material science, biotechnology, formulation science or related area 
  • Experience with biomass conversion and valorization processes is required 
  • Knowledge in fertilizer science and technology is highly recommended 
  • Excellent communication skills, in English and French 
  • Ability to generate new ideas, links, and builds upon existing ideas to generate unique concepts and solutions. 
  • Ability to work with national and international staff, students, researchers, professors, companies, and partners. 
  • Autonomy and spirit of initiative, rigor, discretion, sense of organization and problem-solving skills.
