Support the University's finance operations through accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations and process improvement in a collaborative team.

The School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University is seeking applicants to fill three Tutor/Senior Tutor positions to join our teaching team developing material for the Joint Education Institute (JEI) with Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), China. These three positions are fixed term, three-year, opportunities that are part of a cluster hire in plant and horticulture science and agri-business.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

The purpose of these positions is to support and contribute to teaching within the disciplines of Horticultural and Plant Science and Agribusiness, with a particular focus on undergraduate education. These positions sit within a cluster of hires that will form part of a new collaborative Joint Education Institute (JEI) program between the School of Agriculture and Environment (SAE) at Massey University in New Zealand and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), Yangling, China.

The language of instruction will be English and each role includes:

  • With appropriate SAE Manawatu and JEI based academic staff, help create material and curricula for the courses to be taught at NWAFU as part of the JEI. This will be based on existing educational material from our current SAE undergraduate courses taught at the Manawatu campus and adapted to be fit-for-purpose in a Chinese learning context.
  • Develop and co-develop, with current staff, online digital learning resources such as technical guides, fact sheets, short demonstration videos, self-assessment quizzes, interactive modules and laboratory materials and worksheets for the JEI students for whom English will be a second language. The resources need to be pitched at the appropriate level for these learners.
  • Develop and populate individual online learning sites, based on the Massey University STREAM platform for each JEI course, and update as required once developed.
  • Adapt the existing and newly created curriculum for each course from its current 12-week semester structure to NWAFU's 16-week teaching semester. This body of work will ensure that course content, learning activities, and assessments are appropriately aligned with the extended teaching period.
  • Support the teaching JEI staff based at NWAFU to ensure that learning material is fit for purpose and contribute to the ongoing cycle of learning resource review and refresh within the online learning environment.
  • Contribute to feedback, evaluation, and revision processes under the supervision of both Manawatu based SAE and JEI staff after the courses are first taught. Help implement any changes required, which may require some travel.

Mōu | About you

Successful candidates will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a field relevant to the JEI programme in horticulture, plant science, and agribusiness.
