YOUR TASKS 

In this position, you will support the functioning of the neurology service of the Small Animal Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine by joining the neurology clinical team. The main tasks are:

  • Performing clinical activities in the neurology of companion animals.
  • Consulting with other veterinarians and specialists of the various disciplines on organization and treatment plans.
  • The participation in night and weekend on-call duties of the neurology service on a rotating basis.
  • Supervising students and interns during consultations in dogs and cats with neurological problems.
  • Supervising clinical master's theses.
  • Participating in the training of interns. 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You have a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine. For degrees obtained outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence from NARIC must be submitted. Diploma requirements must be met by the date of appointment.
  • You have a proven interest in neurology of companion animals.
  • Teaching experience and participation in continuing education, conferences etc. on companion animal neurology is essential.
  • You have didactic and communicative qualities and demonstrable experience that can contribute to the quality of practice-related education.
  • You have an interest in scientific services and/or project-based research.

Considering the job content, there are high expectations in terms of social and organisational skills. The candidate should be able to work together as part of a team, communicate fluently with owners and with staff from different disciplines and of different levels (specialists, veterinarians, veterinary assistants, technical staff and students) and have the necessary flexibility and stress-resistance to change the order of tasks according to service needs. Being able to communicate fluently in Dutch or English is also a requirement.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a 100% contract of definite duration for a period of 1 year.
  • Your contract will start on 1/10/2026 at the earliest.
