Location: Jubilee Campus
Salary: £30,487 to £33,966 per annum, (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (£33966 with relevant PhD).
Closing Date: Wednesday 13 December 2023
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in Responsible Innovation in Autonomous Systems.
You will be working as a research fellow on topics of responsible innovation in autonomous systems. You will work alongside interdisciplinary researchers in various research groups of the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/computerscience/research/index.aspx) and linked to the national research Hub on Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (www.tas.ac.uk) and Responsible AI UK (www.rai.ac.uk). You will work closely with the Responsible Digital Futures initiative (https://www.responsibledigital-futures.org/).
Your work will entail the planning and execution of data collection and data analysis to understand stakeholder positions in projects that explore responsible AI in SMEs as well as the dynamics of autonomous areal vehicles in defence. This implies an understanding of the principles of stakeholder identification and detailed knowledge of data collection and analysis methods that are typically used in responsible innovation work. This includes the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data through interviews, focus groups, workshops or Delphi studies as well as online surveys. You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.
You should have experience undertaking responsible innovation or related research, for examples in areas such as ethics of technology or science and technology studies. Experience of relevant data collection and analysis approaches and tools such as NVivo and/or SPSS is expected.
You will be expected to undertake independent research as well as working as part of a team - this will include using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research, and being responsible for writing up their work in order to contribute to published outcomes and other project outputs.
The post is offered on a full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term basis to 31st August 2024. Arrangements for job share may be considered.
