The Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC) at the University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Surface Science Research Associate/Fellow. This role will enhance the surface science capabilities of the nmRC by developing the research portfolio in this area. Further, this role will manage the XPS facility within the nmRC, providing resource planning and operational insight to ensure efficient usage of the instrumentation.
The Research Fellow must have proven technical specialist knowledge and understanding in their own research field as well as a strong track record of performing XPS experiments and analysing the resulting data. Familiarity with Kratos XPS instrumentation and good working knowledge of XPS are also desirable. There is scope within the role to enable the Research Fellow to support research on the '3D OrbiSIMS', the first of its kind in an academic setting. Experience working with ultrahigh vacuum systems is therefore essential.
