RDM Software Development Expert (f/m/x)

The SFB 1403 (https://sfb1403.uni-koeln.de/), a collaborative research center with the focus on cell death in immunity, inflammation and disease, aims to support their scientists in their specific data- and computation-related needs in a specific INF project. Within this project a particular focus will be on platform development for the consortium and further analysis of research data.

YOUR TASKS

  • The RDM Software Development Expert (f/m/x) will be responsible for OMERO-Open: server administration, workflow-integration, user management and data protection
  • The RDM Software Development Expert (f/m/x) will establish data management platforms and databases, e.g. for tissue samples
  • The RDM Software Development Expert (f/m/x) will focus on AI development: Investigation of the use of existing AI-supported models including LLMs. Furthermore new models should be developed and automated quality-assessment procedures should be established.
  • For these tasks the RDM Software Development Expert (f/m/x) will communicate regularly with the university‘s IT support (RRZK/ITCC) to act as an interface between the researchers and the infrastructure units to ensure efficient solutions.

YOUR PROFILE

  • A PhD degree in informatics, bioinformatics, biology or a related discipline
  • Experience with large (biological) data sets
  • Experience in FAIR data management
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in interdisciplinary communication
  • Good programming skills
  • Preferably knowledge of key bioinformatics pipelines
  • Preferably experience in database design and management
  • Preferably experience with ontologies and semantic modeling
  • Preferably basic systems administration skills
  • High degree of self-initiative and individual responsibility
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written

The position is available immediately on a full-time basis (39,83 hours per week). The contract is for a fixed term to 31.12.2027. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
