YOUR TASKS

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research, teaching and academic administration in the Supply Chain Management Area. Research that is targeted for publications at top ranked international journals is expected. The candidate is expected to teach Supply Chain Management courses (B.Sc. and M.Sc. level) in English and prospectively in German. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to take a leading role in the management of our external corporate contacts, and in the management of our project studies involving industry partners. The candidate should contribute to one of the faculty’s key research areas (https://wiso.uni-koeln.de/en/research).

YOUR PROFILE

We are seeking an academic at a mid-career stage in the fields of Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related fields with an existing track record of high-quality research and teaching. The successful candidate should have strong expertise in state-of-the-art empirical, data science, or analytical modelling research methods and be interested in applying them to real-world problems. In terms of research, we expect publications in leading journals (preferably UTD / FT50). International experience is required preferably demonstrated by a PhD from a foreign university. The position further requires substantial industry experience preferably demonstrated by a leading position. Experience in executive education is expected.

The position is available as of summer 2025 (or based on mutual agreement). Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
