The Cologne Center for Genomics is looking for a bioinformatician (f/m/x) for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data (NGS data). In addition to the programming of bioinformatics pipelines, another task is to enable the secondary use of NGS data for scientific research. This position combines both aspects by contributing to two projects, the West German Genome Center (WGGC) and the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA).

YOUR TASKS

  • Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for WGGC
  • Support the submission of NGS data for secondary research as a GHGA Data Steward
  • Develop and maintain of the WGGC LIMS
  • Conduct bioinformatics analyses of NGS data
  • Support the data management and data delivery processes at the Cologne Center for Genomics

YOUR PROFILE

  • Completed scientific university degree in bioinformatics or a comparable field of study
  • Experience with the Linux commandline
  • Programming experience, ideally in Python
  • Knowledge of Node, JQuery, JQGrid, PostgreSQL
  • Experience in LIMS development
  • Work experience in a medical environment
  • Very good communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Open-minded and professional behaviour when working in user support
  • Experience with Nextflow, Slurm, and Bash scripting is an advantage
