The Chair of Applied Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics at the University of Bayreuth offers a three-year postdoctoral position in numerical fluid mechanics (full time, E 13 TV-L) to be filled as soon as possible.
Project Description:
The research project focuses on data assimilation of compressible high-speed flows using synthetic (numerical) or experimental data including Schlieren images, PIV data, and acoustic measurements. The research involves the development of a minimization algorithm based on the adjoint Navier-Stokes equations in order to adapt boundary and initial conditions to synthetic or experimental data. The implementation of the numerical data-assimilation for GPU is part of the project assignments.
