Expected skills:

  • Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching as well as a high-level scientific record in accordance with UGA’s ambitions and standard. They must identify with UGA’s values, that is, being open to the world, emphasizing ethics and scientific integrity, showing an interest in teamwork and being committed to the community. They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regards to environmental and social issues. 

Teaching profile:

  • The successful candidate will be required to teach at the UGA Chemistry and Biology department, in the disciplines of cell biology, molecular biology and immunology in all its aspects and at all scales (molecular, cellular and whole organism), at bachelor’s and master’s degree level.
  • They will mainly teach on the Grenoble campus and may have to teach on the Valence campus as well, although less frequently.
  • In the medium term, the successful candidate will be expected to assume responsibility for courses and teaching programs at the Chemistry and Biology department.

Research profile:

  • The successful candidate will develop a research project in translational immunology in closed collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Biosciences (IAB, UGA Inserm 1209 CNRS 5309) and the French Blood Bank (Etablissement Français du Sang [EFS] Auvergne Rhône-Alpes [AuRA]), on the Grenoble campus.
  • The general aim of this project will be the characterization and modulation of innate immune responses (i.e., dendritic cells, monocytes/macrophages) in chronic inflammatory settings (including cancers, infections, transplantation, etc.). This project of translational research will consist in studying the role of these innate immune cells during immune modulation (i.e., immunotherapies) and/or in using these innate immune cells to develop new preventive or therapeutic approaches.
  • While the project will focus on innate immune cells, the relationship between these cells and effector cells (i.e., conventional T cells, gamma/delta T cells, MAIT, NK or iNKT cells) could be also studied.
