Research project name and description:

Using idiosyncrasies in eye movement patterns as signatures of top-down control in the evaluation of decision-making.

The goal of the project is to investigate how to use eye movement analysis (eye-tracking) to evaluate decision-making. We assume that idiosyncratic (i.e., unique and specific) eye movement patterns can be indicative of experience and cognitive control, so we will use machine learning methods to detect anomalies in these patterns. In a series of experiments, we will test this approach in a variety of contexts, such as facial recognition, crowdsourcing tasks and recruitment, to see if unusual gaze patterns can indicate the quality of decision-making.
