To strengthen our research into how pediatric cancers evolve, the Cresswell group is recruiting a Technical Assistant (f/m/d) to contribute to projects in the team. In this responsible role, you will have the unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary competence center for pediatric cancer research and to have a direct influence on understanding how cancers develop resistance to therapy. You will be a core member of the team and contribute to research efforts using state-of-the-art single-cell sequencing, drug sensitivity profiling and lineage tracing technologies.

Your responsibilities
- You will become a core member of our team, supporting and enabling our ongoing research projects
- You will be responsible for purchasing and storing research materials, and maintaining an inventory to ensure reproducible science
- You will perform cell culture, barcoding, drug sensitivity assays and genomics focused on single-cell sequencing
- You will establish wet-lab operations in the team, supported by collaborating experimentalists in e.g., the Taschner-Mandl and Halbritter groups
- You will be responsible for troubleshooting experiments and interpreting results together with computational biologists
- You will ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and good laboratory practice
Your profile
What you bring for this position:
- Degree in life science (B.Sc., M.Sc., Mag., DI)
- Excellent technical skills in molecular and cellular biology
- Experience with cell culture is essential
- Experience with e.g., virus-based molecular techniques, dose-response assays, next generation sequencing protocols, is strongly desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential (German not required)
- Exceptional organization skills, ability to problem solve, work independently and communicate clearly are essential
- A proactive “getting things done” mentality
