The School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, within the Faculty of Applied Sciences, is currently inviting applications for an academic leader at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to lead the School as its Director. The School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering was formally established in 2013 and it currently consists of 22 faculty members, working in multidisciplinary areas of intelligent systems and control, biomechatronics and biomedical engineering, micro- and nano-systems, energy systems, power electronics, robotics and AI, design optimization, additive and digital manufacturing, and agricultural technologies. The successful candidate will lead this young School to the next phase of its growth by serving as the face and a passionate advocate of the School, showing collegial leadership, evoking shared strategic vision, expanding its state-of-the-art infrastructure, recruiting top faculty members, and building upon national and international reputation.
Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Director is responsible for the day-to-day academic activities of the School. A commitment to leadership, collaboration, and staff development is essential for a role of this magnitude. The Director will amplify the School’s mission of performing innovative, translational research and entrepreneurship, as well as fostering the School’s relationship with industry and community engagement. The Director will likewise oversee the strategy and development of new educational programs, certificates, and training to help our undergraduate and graduate students succeed in a changed and changing world.
The School Director is a term position with an initial appointment of five years that may be renewable for a subsequent term. The successful candidate must be appointable in a discipline within the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering to a tenured position at the level of Associate or Full Professor, and would resume regular full-time professorial duties upon the conclusion of their appointment.
