At the Medical Faculty of Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg is the
W3-Professorship for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy
(Successor Prof. Dr. med. Jörg Frommer)
to occupy on 01.10.2020.
Tasks include the representation of the subject in research, teaching and health care as well as the management of the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy.
In addition to outstanding clinical experience and scientific achievements in the field, the applicant is expected to participate in the further development of student teaching and the two main research areas of the Faculty of Medicine (Neurosciences, Immunology - Molecular Medicine of Inflammation).
The focus of the patient care of the clinic with a 20-bed ward and a day clinic with 10 treatment places are amongst other things somatoform disorders and eating disorders as well as the psychosomatic consultation and liaison service for the University Hospital. The clinic includes a psycho-oncological counseling center, a psychosocial counseling center for students as well as an ambulatory section within the Medical Care Center (MVZ). It is planned to set up a center for mental health and the candidate will be invited in the development of this structure. In addition to the Departments for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, as well as child and adolescent psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatics, the Department for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy will be involved in the development of this center. The expansion of the psycho-oncological care structure in the University Hospital is expected.
The professorship-related tasks of managing the clinic including the associated liquidation law are governed by a chief physician contract. In the contract, the tasks associated with the management of the clinic, including the treatment of privately insured patients, are assigned to the service tasks. The previous liquidation law will be replaced by a performance-based remuneration. This can be waived if a professor has already been liquidated.
Prerequisites for admission are the habilitation in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy or equivalent scientific achievements as well as the specialist recognition in the field of psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy. We are looking for a personality with leadership experience of a psychosomatic clinic and special competences in the supervision of psychotherapy.
