Ai movement, the International Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Morocco, attached to UM6P, is a center of excellence in Artificial Intelligence, which aims to foster the emergence of Moroccan and African know-how in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. It is UNESCO's reference center for artificial intelligence in Africa. Ai movement's aim is to develop trusted, ethical, responsible and inclusive AI on the African continent. 

Job description:

Ai movement is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Automatic Natural Language Processing (NLP) with experience in Large Language Models (LLMs) to contribute to research and teaching activities within the center. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team of researchers, engineers, post-docs and PhD students from all over the world. He/she will have solid experience in similar positions at national and international level, involving the design of generative language models, and will have led several courses and training sessions in this field. At Ai Movement, the candidate will participate in teaching and executive training, interact with researchers and engineers in the center and its ecosystem, and contribute to the influence of Ai Movement's research activity through the publication of his/her scientific work.

Required qualifications :

  • PhD in computer science or a field closely related to automatic natural language processing (NLP) with significant experience in large language models (LLMs).
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Significant research experience, reflected in high-impact publications.
  • Proven track record in obtaining research funding or demonstrated potential to do so.
  • Significant experience in initial and executive education in the field of expertise.
  • Rigor, autonomy, organization, strong analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Sense of public interest.
  • Ability to work on several projects as required.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (in French and English).

Required technical skills :

  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms, deep learning, generative models for language and LLMs with very good programming skills (Python and C++) and mastery of the TensorFlow/PyTorch deep learning platforms.
  • Experience of supervising interns, PhD students and post-docs, and working with international teams.
