Job Summary

The Lecturer in Accounting will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering excellent teaching to students with Accounting backgrounds. The lecturer will also be responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to students. The lecturer should have a strong academic background in Accounting, holding at least a master’s degree and possess a passion for teaching along with a commitment to helping students achieve their academic and professional goals. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver engaging and interactive lectures to students, providing them with a solid foundation in accounting principles and applications.
  2. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment, encouraging active participation and academic excellence among students.
  3. Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, assisting them in understanding complex concepts and assignments.
  4. Set coursework and exam assessments and provide constructive feedback on assignments within two weeks of the submission deadline.
  5. Collaborate with other faculty members and departments to expand the college’s teaching provision.
  6. Maintain regular communication with management, administrative staff, IT support and other lecturers.
  7. Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay up to date with advancements in education. 

Requirements

The postholder is expected to demonstrate the following: 

  1. Education
    A minimum of a master’s degree in accounting, or a related field. 
    Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or similar are preferred. 
  • Experience
    Proven experience as an accounting lecturer, teaching assistant, or instructor is highly desirable. 
    Experience in designing and delivering assessments and giving high-quality feedback on knowledge. 
    Experience of curriculum design.
  • Knowledge
    Strong knowledge of accounting principles, theories and practices.
    Excellent IT skills, with Microsoft Office 365, Moodle, MS Teams and Zoom. 
    Proficiency in using educational technology such as Turnitin.
  • Skills & Abilities
    Aptitude for building effective relationships with students and staff. 
    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    Strong organizational and time management skills. 
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    Proven ability to deliver modules to the specifications and meet deadlines. 
    Passion for teaching and student development.
    Ability to inspire and motivate students.
