The research groups of Bert Reynvoet and Hans Op de Beeck at the University of Leuven (Belgium) have a joint position for a postdoctoral researcher to study how visual and numerical processing is influenced by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Part of the work will be carried out in collaboration with Arnaud Szmalec (University of Louvain, Belgium). More information on the research groups can be found at hoplab.be and https://kulak.kuleuven.be/nl/onderzoek/Onderzoeksdomeinen/Learning_Brain_Lab/Learning-Brain-Lab The KU Leuven teams belong to the department of Brain & Cognition (https://ppw.kuleuven.be/bc ), which contains almost 100 scientists with interest in cognition, vision, and neuroscience, and to the Leuven Brain Institute.

Responsibilities

We expect the postdoc to develop research with TMS in visual and numerical cognition at KU Leuven and UC Louvain, using double-pulse and repetitive TMS, and set up protocols for TMS experimentation.

Profile

Eligible candidates have a PhD in a relevant area (e.g., cognitive neuroscience; experimental psychology) and research experience demonstrated through first-author peer-reviewed publications. Prior experience with TMS is important, and affinity with vision sciences or numerical cognition is an asset. A background in behavioral experiments and programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab) will be helpful. Further assets are a creative mind, good problem solving skills and a collaborative and collegial attitude.

Offer

The position is funded for 2-3 years. The net amount of the salary will be internationally competitive and in accordance with the university fellowship scales for postdoctoral researchers.
