Mood disorders are highly prevalent and incur a large cost for individuals, their social environment, and society. The aim of this project is to study the potential of statistical process control techniques for the online detection of early warning signals of such mood disorders in data that are continuously harvested. The planned research involves the development and evaluation of new statistical process control techniques for affective data as well as the analysis of available experience sampling data of both clinical and non-clinical populations. The research will be in collaboration with the biosystems department of the faculty of bioscience engineering at KU Leuven.
The applicant must have a Master's degree in (bio)statistics, (bioscience) engineering, behavioral sciences, or related fields, and have excellent English communication and writing skills. Preferably, the candidate has prior experience with time series analysis and R or Matlab. The position requires enrollment in the PhD-program of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.
We offer encouraging daily guidance, excellent research facilities, conference/travel budget, and a competitive salary with various additional benefits (in terms of holidays, health insurance, transport costs). A PhD position is offered for an initial year, renewable for up to 4 years, and is expected to result in the completion of a PhD. The starting date is October 1st 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
