Production engineering (IIP) includes techniques which mainly concern engineer technical development of products, processes, systems and methods that have direct impact on this production. The area includes everything from engineering aspects of manufacturing to assembly of components for functional products and recycling issues associated with these disciplines.
The intended work will take place at the department of Production Engineering (https://www.kth.se/en/itm/inst/iip) within the group of Digital Smart Production. Here you will be integrated in the department activities with responsibility both in the field of research (80%) and education (20%): The candidate will partake in the research projects, assist in some administrative aspects of project leadership and act as an assistant lecturer for specific courses.
The research position will be within the field of Production System with focus on Business Models, Unit of Digital Smart Production. This Unit focuses on Industry 4.0/Digitalisation aspects of industry, with a particular emphasis on shop-floor applications. The Unit also has European and national projects that operate within this focus area, as well as being part of the eXcellence in Production RESerach (XPRES) Strategiska Forskningsområdet (SFO).
The candidate will be responsible for developing and running research activities in national as well as European project. In detail the candidate will be mainly active within the OpenMOS project, part of H2020 Factory of the Future (http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/198382_en.html) The target of this project are Plug-and-produce automation systems that allow easy change over and reconfiguration based on predefined process capabilities and fast integration methods. The candidate will also be involved in the Tiphys project (webpage under construction), an Erasmus + initiative for higher education funded by EC and Swedish council for higher education (www.uhr.se). The aim of this project is to create an international course repository for PhD level educational units in the domain of Industry 4.0: the initiative leverage on the learning analytic paradigm and on the Social Network based education framework . Both projects require close cooperation with our industrial and academic partners.
Teaching activities (defined as part of departmental work, 20%) involve bachelor and master education in the domain of Scientific Methodology and Business driven production development.
The position will lead towards a licentiate’s degree.
We seek a candidate with a completed Masters of Science degree within Management Engineering. Proven experience in independent working and research efforts are viewed as beneficial.
