The research group Business Informatics belongs to the Faculty of Business Economics. It focuses its current research on the design, adaptation and application of algorithms to generate usable and valuable insights from data in order to support and improve organisational performance. The business economics focus in its research is a core part of the identity of the research group.
With this vacancy, the research group Business Informatics wishes to further expand its expertise. This is possible either starting from a specific application domain or from a foundation of Business Informatics, such as Business Intelligence, Data Management, Data Mining/Knowledge Discovery, Information Management, Information Systems and Business Process Management.
According to its vision, the research group aims to consist of ZAP members each with their own expertise and identity within the domain of Business Informatics. At the same time, it is expected that the new expertise will be complementary to the existing expertise and that there will be a strong focus on collaborations between the various members of the research group and, by extension, the discipline group of Quantitative Methods.
You will participate in business informatics courses in various programmes (bachelor/master) of the faculty of Business Economics and in the further development of the Business Informatics and Master of Management programme. You are expected to fully subscribe to and implement the educational vision of the university, faculty and various programmes.
As a member of the department of Quantitative Methods, you are also expected to be employable within the broad educational assignment of the department, if necessary, in order to safeguard the balance in terms of task load.
The expectation is that you will strengthen the research of the Business Informatics research group and develop a new research cell around a unique yet complementary theme. This can start from a specific business economic domain as well as from a Business Informatics foundation.
We expect you to develop your own research identity within the group and expand the existing research of the research group. At the same time, we also expect you to link up with the existing structural research of the research group, in particular the research on Audit Analytics and/or Event Data Analytics, so that you strive for complementarity and cooperation.
In addition, we expect you to contribute to the vision of the research group Business Informatics with a clear focus on business economics and to strengthen the group by building a research cell that gains national and international recognition within the Business Informatics research community.
We expect you to publish in leading academic journals, co-author projects, actively develop an academic and professional network, and successfully assist PhD students to obtain their PhD.
We offer a full-time position as Assistant Professor. Depending on your current position and track record and after assessment by the statutory committee this will be in a Tenure Track or a limited trial period. In both cases, a favourable evaluation at the end of the period results in a tenured position.
You can only apply online up to and including 15 September 2020.
The selection procedure consists of a preselection based on application file, an interview and a test lesson / presentation.
