As part of a group of 15 engineers, you will participate in a project focusing on the implementation of FAIR data management practices of datasets for the ESRF and related data repositories. In the context of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) the adoption of Open Science practices is increasing. Data from Photon and Neutron (PaN) facilities is becoming available for a wider range of users. You will work in close collaboration with software engineers working on data management, databases, data processing, metadata collection and web portals. You will interact with scientists and users to address their needs in data management. You will interact with the EOSC community of users.

Your missions will be the following:

- Improve the adherence of ESRF data to the FAIR principles

- Extend the PaN experimental techniques ontology to cover a maximum of techniques at ESRF beamlines

- Link DOIs to external data repositories, develop instrument and workflow PIDs

- Deploy and integrate the PaN data portal as a service in the PaN EOSC Node

- Deploy AI/ML tools to analyse e-logbooks produced by beamline operations

- Demonstrate composability of services for data and workflows

- Raise visibility of ESRF data by linking them to trusted networks 

- Higher university degree (Master or equivalent diploma offering 300 ECTS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or equivalent

- 2 years minimum of professional related experience

- Good to high knowledge of Python

- Good to high knowledge of data modeling, metadata and data formats

- Solid understanding of AI/ML techniques and algorithms

- Experience in developing web applications is a plus

- Familiarity working on a Linux environment

- Good communication skills and team spirit

- Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
