Are you an enthusiastic researcher with a proven track record in the area of high-performance computing and green computing with a special emphasis on parallel computing, resource management, orchestration, and optimization? Would you like to contribute to the challenging field of interconnected intelligent systems? You may be the candidate we are looking for.
The Interconnected Resource-aware Intelligent Systems (IRIS) cluster at the department of Mathematics and Computer Science has a vacancy for an assistant professor addressing current and future challenges of high environmental (energy and water) footprint of high-performance computing, data centers, and AI clusters. In particular, the focus will be on parallel and distributed computing, resource management/scheduling of these compute infrastructures.
This research area is not only challenging from scientific point of view due to, among others, it’s all-inclusive optimization approach covering various dependencies at the operating systems level and heterogeneity of tasks and compute platforms and their available and required resources, but is also highly valuable from societal and economic impact perspective as it is expected to greatly contribute to sustainability goals.
Research focus of the IRIS cluster is on distributed (embedded) systems and computing platforms and their performance challenges in terms of sustainability, scalability, reliability, dependability, programmability, timing behavior, robustness, accuracy, and trustworthiness.
Research of the IRIS cluster is being performed in the context of various application domains including automotive, smart industry, predictive maintenance, logistics, smart cities, health and wellbeing, and intelligent lighting. The industrial applications and collaborations inspire IRIS in its research and ensure that its research outcome remains as close as possible to real-world problems and has economic and societal impacts.
