The Department of Engineering at Durham University is growing Bioengineering in both teaching and research and now seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Assistant Professor in Bioengineering. We welcome applications from outstanding individuals with research and teaching interests in one or more of the Bioengineering specialisations including, but not limited to, Biomedical Imaging, Tissue Engineering, Biomechanics, Biofluid Mechanics, Biomedical Sensing, and applicants with Medical Devices and Biotechnology Design experience are also encouraged to apply. Theoreticians, experimentalists, and modellers are all welcome to apply. The successful candidate will also be involved in a new MSc programme in Biomedical Engineering due to start in October 2024.

The Department of Engineering demonstrates significant depth of research excellence across a range of disciplines, with activities that are currently concentrated around three Research Challenge areas (https://www.durham.ac.uk/departments/academic/engineering/research/): Sustainable Infrastructure, Future Energy Systems and Advanced Materials, Electronics and Communications. We are particularly proud of the collaborative interdisciplinary nature of our research, which also includes strong industrial partnerships. 

We are keen to hear from candidates who have already achieved Chartered Engineer status. As a minimum, if not already professionally qualified, candidates will be expected to demonstrate the ability and desire to become Chartered.
