Our Center for Vision, Automation & Control is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. The Center exploits the opportunities provided by automation and digitisation to initiate and advance innovation for industry, primarily in Austria and Europe. Our main goal is to take away the monotonous, heavy, difficult, and dangerous aspects of people’s work through innovation. We help our partners by making technical systems more robust, reliable, flexible, and easy to use. At the same time, we increase the resource efficiency of industrial processes by reducing waste, product failures, and emissions.

Our High-Performance Vision Systems team is enthusiastically researching on improving optical inspection and measurement systems towards higher performance (speed, resolution), robustness and flexibility. We cover the whole data processing chain including image capture, image processing/computer vision and image content analysis with traditional and modern machine learning/AI methods.

JUNIOR SCIENTIST (M/F/D) FOR MACHINE VISION

CENTER FOR VISION, AUTOMATION & CONTROL

  • You will support our team in the development of concepts, specifications and procedures for high-performance vision systems for application in industrial automation.
  • You are involved in the content of our research topics in computer vision and develop them further within various research and industry projects.
  • The tools and methods you (co-)develop will be used in different projects and provided to customers.
  • You will be able to apply the developed methods in a practical way and implement them in innovative demonstration projects.
  • You independently work your way into a new subject and are able to link knowledge from different domains.
  • Through your innovative results and your growing network of partners will actively contribute to the success of our current research projects as well as to the establishment of new business models and concepts in the field of advanced inspection systems.
  • You publish your findings and results in international journals and present them at national and international conferences.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • Completed technical studies (at least MSc.) related to computer science (e.g., technical computer science, software engineering, embedded systems, data science, etc.)
  • Good knowledge in the field of computer vision, image processing and in particular machine learning/AI
  • Good knowledge in the field of software development and/or corresponding programming languages (Python, C, C++,)
  • Knowledge of sensing and camera technology, optics, high-performance computing architectures and parallel processing are of advantage
  • Special interest in applied research and the solution of practical problems, ideally already project experience in this context
  • High level of commitment and ability to work in a team
  • Good language skills in English (required) and German (beneficial)

What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 53.578,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
