We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the field of Biomedical Engineering. The selected candidate will be conducting research with methods including high-intensity ultrasonics as well as signal, image and 3D volume analyses. The research goal is to establish novel drug delivery concepts and advanced methods for tissue characterization in the field of musculoskeletal diseases and oncology.
The work will be done at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering (NBE) of Aalto University at Medical Ultrasonics Laboratory (MEDUSA) under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Heikki Nieminen. There is a close collaboration with University of Oulu, University of Helsinki and University of Toronto.
The candidate should have a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant field. An ideal candidate is a problem-solver and has a strong profile in ultrasonics (preferably high-intensity ultrasonics or therapeutic ultrasonics) and highly preferably in 3D image analysis. Skills in advanced experimental research, physical acoustics, hands-on prototyping or experience in commercializing medical technology would be considered as an advantage. Demonstrated background in project coordination, student supervision, good interpersonal skills, excellent scientific English and capability to publish in high-impact journals are valued.
The Postdoctoral Researcher position will be filled for 1-3 years. The expected starting salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher is approx. 3500 €/month and follows the university salary system. The position will be filled as soon as possible. The annual workload of research and teaching staff at Aalto University is 1624 hours. The contract includes occupational healthcare. The position will be located at the Aalto University Otaniemi Campus.
